the ep is called spotlight diktat in reference to the feeling some djs have when they are on tour. a kind of dj melancholia generated by airplanes, dehumanized hotels, waiting hours in boring terminals, basically traveling alone. i made these tracks out of this mood. at first they sounds like the typical groovy dance tracks, but when the melody comes out, you immediately feel there is something wrong now the track is on and you still dance (of course its made for that) but you could almost cry to it too. so this is what happens when a dj or a producer has to do their job, but they aren t really in the mood for it. when the party comes, they just forget everything and make the show happen regardless. they have to bear the spotlight diktat and keep on entertaining people regardless of what they have in mind.

phantasy are very proud to present a remix of daniel averys *all i need* by a hero of the techno scene, hero of the house scene, hero of the everything electronic scene: herr roman flügel with one of the labels biggest reworks to date. on the flip, chilean sonic soundsmith ricardo tobar takes *these nights never end* and delivers the kind of beautiful, intricate rework that made his recent album treillis such a beguiling trip.

that man, craig mcnamara aka last magpie, is proving a popular choice round here at hypercolour/losing suki hq. with various eps and remixes for both our labels, it s also rubbed off on some of our artists too, with the likes of maya jane coles being a big supporter (getting a last magpie re-rub of her everything track on her new label i/am/me). his always on point blend of genres, from bumpin garage kissed house to hardcore bass monsters mark him out as a very versatile producer, and on the she won t let ep, the magpie once again spreads his wings over four cuts.
